Gaëlle Pério is a journalist, writer and strategic advisor.
She works through encounters — with people and places — to make sense of the world.
As a foreign correspondent, she covered the European Union from Belgium, before working in the Western Balkans. She has also taught Balkan geopolitics at Sciences Po, as well as journalism in France and abroad.
She is the author of Serbie, mythologies balkaniques (Nevicata) and L’école et les langues (Fabert), and has collaborated with various think tanks in France and across Europe.
Her work also extends to cinema: she is the co-screenwriter of Lonely, a film by Michele Pennetta, winner of the Best Italian Documentary Award 2024 (Doc/it Professional Award).
At the core of her work is a commitment to encounters — meeting people, listening, and conveying their stories with precision, placing each singular experience within a broader perspective.
Mediterranean by inclination and a polyglot, she moves naturally across cultures. She builds bridges, fosters encounters, and creates connections.
Today, she draws on her journalistic experience and her work across multicultural environments to work as a strategic interlocutor with individuals — particularly creators — and organisations facing complex situations, questions of positioning, or moments of transition.
Her next book, Malte, l’identité piratée, will be published on 19 May 2026.
